The Prestige Philately Club Prague, together with the Vindobona Club of Vienna and the Club de Monte-Carlo of Monaco, is organizing the second edition of the exhibition of rare stamps.
The first edition of the exhibition of rare stamps took place during the covid in December 2020 and was a huge success. On 28 October - 5 November 2023, the second edition will take place at the Municipal House in Prague (Obecní dům), and once again rarities of world significance, whose total current value is many tens of millions of euros, will be exhibited there.
Rare Oil Rivers overprints will be on display for the first time ever, having appeared on the market in 2022 for the first time in a long 100 years! The current price is over CHF 700,000.
A unique complete block of the Saxon 3, the only one surviving in the entire world, is on display in a rare occasion. Its value is hard to estimate, having last been sold at auction in 1999 for over DM 900,000.
A modern Chinese rarity will also be on display - stamps issued for the Year of the Monkey in 1980. Larger blocks are not found on the market at all; a block of 24 stamps from the lower left corner of the sheet will be on display in Prague. Its market value is in the tens of thousands of euros.
There will certainly be a lot to see, such a number of world rarities in one place is not even at exhibitions in London or New York. The list of exhibits and more detailed info about the exhibition is here: https://ppcp.cz/en/biennale-2023/
On Sunday, October 29, 2023 at 14:00 I will give a lecture on "Postage stamps - a hobby or an investment?", which is open to the general public. After the lecture there will be a discussion on this topic. I look forward to seeing everyone.
